Ours is a storied history with a bright future.

Myles B. Welborn, Jr., DDS moved to Richardson in 1960 and opened one of the first dental offices in the growing community. Dr. Welborn started what has become a tradition of quality care in the community. His professional manner and friendly personality instilled a philosophy in his practice that continues today.

Dr. Barnes began working with Dr. Welborn soon after graduation from dental school, and together they continued this personal approach to family dentistry.

Following graduation from Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Chris Barnes joined Dr. Welborn, working side-by-side with him to learn his special approach to family dentistry. Dr. Barnes is continuing Dr. Welborn’s traditions, leading us in all that we do for our patients.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

My dad always encouraged me to do my very best. It’s a character trait that began with my grandfather and one I continue to encourage in my children. Dr. Myles Welborn, who started our office more than 50 years ago, always said, “If you can’t do it right the first time, when are you going to do it right?” Better words could not be expressed.

Our process starts by listening. Knowing your dental history and understanding your expectations are important to us. We’ll find the best way to care for you, offering options that will provide you with the best value, all while treating you with the care you deserve.

We place a priority on prevention. We’d rather keep you from ever needing us to fill a cavity or repair a broken tooth. Our hygienists are skilled in more than teeth cleaning. They perform periodontal exams, oral cancer screens and evaluate your entire oral health. I trust them with the dental care of my family, so you can trust them with yours.

As a practice, we are true believers that preventative care and education are the keys to optimal dental health.  We strive to provide “dental health care” vs. “disease care”.  That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary.  We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease.  Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health.  A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.

Uncompromising Safety

Infection control in our office is also very important to us.  To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
